Description

This is How it Began:- Yes! Oil can be a healthy ingredient! It all started in the year 1996 when we began sourcing coconut oil from a neighbouring oil mill in Kerala and sell them in Chennai. Enjoyed the trading process for 4 years until year 2000. Gave a long break to business during my college years and began working in the UAE for a private firm. Being an expat, I had the opportunity to learn about various lifestyle diseases among different nationalities that were alarmingly rising due to unhealthy eating habits. I understood that the root cause of these lifestyle diseases were from our basic kitchen ingredient, i.e, “Cooking Oil’ & “Masalas”. After returning from the UAE I joined as a manager to Shri IK Gupta a visionary Finding a Solution:- After extensive research, we understood that oil extracted by cold pressing method at a temperature less than 40 degree centigrade is the best for our health as compared to its cheap alternate such as the refined oil & the expeller extracted oil. Cold Pressed method originated during the Indus Valley Civilisation & Harappan period. In India we use colloquial words such as “Ghani”, “Chekku” and “Kolhu” as synonyms for cold-pressed extraction method. Charred sesame seeds and oil-pressing machines were found in the ruins of Harappa and were dated to be 5000 years old. Script from meeranaturaloils.com YD Organics a brand owned by The Healthy Treasures endeavours to re-introduce the concept of using Cold Pressed Oil in cooking and skincare as advised by Ayurvedic practitioners and ancient Indian scripts. In local slang we also call it as Kachhi Ghani oil. Cold Pressed oil refers to oil extracted naturally by using a wood-press machine/system, and not using external heat to extract oil. The temperature in a natural cold-press oil extraction system is less than 40 degrees Celsius. This temperature is a little over room temperature because of the friction during the churning/pressing process. Since the temperature does not exceed 40 degrees Celsius, all the essential nutrients and flavors are retained. Thus Cold Pressed oil is considered to be healthy. Cold-pressed oils have a history starting more than 5 millennia ago. From archaeological excavations and studies, it has been determined that Harappans of the Indus Valley Civilization had the technical know-how of extracting oil from sesame seeds using cold-press oil extraction machines as oil-press machines and charred sesame seeds have been found at Harappan sites. Origins of Cold Pressed oil can be traced backed to the Indus Valley Civilization. Charred sesame seeds and oil-pressing machines were found in the ruins of Harappa and were dated to be 5000 years old. Indian colloquial words such as “Ghani”, “Chekku” and “Kolhu” are used as synonyms for cold-pressed oils. These words are a reference to the oil-pressing machines which are used to extract oil. The most basic form of a cold-press machine is a “Pestle and Mortar” setup where the oil-seeds are sent through a pressing process to extract oil.
